At a time when many of us are spending a lot more time at home, it’s important to refresh our space every once in a while so that we can continue to love our home and be inspired by it! With that said, we definitely don’t want to break the bank, so here are some great ideas for some small, budget-friendly home updates that you can make.

1. Swap out your accent pieces
Swapping out your throw pillows, blankets, candles and vases can give your space the perfect refresh without spending a ton of money! (Hint: Some of my favorite home accessories are from this line at Target!)

2. Restyle your bookshelves
Styling your bookshelves can give you that *designer* look that you see on Pinterest, but it doesn’t have to be intimidating! If styling your bookshelves scares you, be sure to check out this post, where I break it down for you step-by-step.

3. Move artwork to new areas of your home
This one is something many people don’t think about! Moving artwork around your home allows you to switch up your space + see what pieces work best where. And the best part, it doesn’t cost a thing :).
Looking for some great framed artwork? My favorite place for great art finds is right here.

4. New plants
Adding in new plants, faux or living, gives your home so much life! If you opt for fake plants, just be sure they look real. If they look like wax or plastic, pass! This particular pick isn’t exactly low-cost, but this is my favorite faux olive tree that I have used with many of my clients!

5. Upgrade light fixtures
Grabbing new light fixtures can make even an older home feel so much more modern and elevated. This doesn’t have to mean that you need to buy a new chandelier, but secondary lighting in your home, such as sconces or vanity lights, can make your whole room look made-over. (Tip: here is my favorite place to shop for new lighting. 😉)

6. New door + cabinet hardware
Painting your hardware or even swapping in new hardware pieces is another great way to modernize and elevate your space! You would be shocked at how nicely new hardware will refresh an entire kitchen or bathroom. Rejuvenation has some of my favorite, gorgeous cabinet hardware that will elevate any room.

7. Add a fresh coat of paint
A fresh coat of paint does wonders. Opt for a lighter color to add a bright and airy feel to your home. Don’t be afraid of white paint – it’s my favorite way to turn any room into a beautiful blank canvas!

8. Bring in fresh flowers
This one is so simple, but adding fresh flowers truly lifts your mood and gives your home a fresh, happy feel. Head to the market this afternoon and grab yourself a fresh bouquet!
I hope you find these tips helpful in refreshing your home in a budget-friendly way! If you’d like some more help on your home project, be sure to check out the Virtual Interior Design services at Larkin Living Spaces.
Have a great day!
